Bekal Fort: The Sentinel of Kasaragod
Bekal Fort is the largest and best-preserved fort in Kerala, located in the Kasaragod district. Unlike many other forts in India that were built as administrative centers or residential palaces, Bekal was constructed exclusively for defense. Its unique keyhole shape, massive laterite walls, and stunning position overlooking the Arabian Sea make it one of the most picturesque historical sites in the state.
